Open Water swimming POV
Open water swimming is mostly a lot of staring into dark, often cold water. But, with each breath, your eyes focus on falling drops of water framed under your out-stretched arm. A brief peak at the surface. Almost always the same. And, yet always different. That's what I set out to capture, and boy was it a challenge. I tried swimming under someone else with my camera, but that didn't work at all, and it was quite awkward. It had to be a self portrait but it took 8 more attempts to get it right â holding the camera upside down in my left hand while swimming an odd loping gate with my right. I love the series that began in the warm waters of September but wasn't technically successful until the cold waters of November. 16mm at f5.6 at 1/8000th of a second.
