Milton Friedman - economist - photographed at his home in San Francisco by editorial photographer Robert Houser
I go up the elevator of this North Beach (San Francisco) apartment building with an assistant and my usual six cases of gear. 'No, no,' says the economist, Milton Friedman, 'just one person and one camera. You don't need all this'. So, no lights, one body, one lens, 4 rolls of film - I have 30 seconds, decide! My assistant was paid to sit in the hallway for the whole shoot with all my other gear. Shot handheld with a Hasselblad 500 CM and an 80mm lens, this image was made during an interview with a reporter from Der Spiegel.
